Dripping, Drizzling, Pouring Rain...

When it rains it pours as they say, and has this year not started out like that, thrown in the deep end.

I love the rain just coming down constantly, apart from the rain gutters being blocked, traffic being backed up and my hairdo not lasting past lunch time the drizzling rain is dazzling.

I ran in from my car yesterday through my jungle of a garden, this being because of the untimely downpours of the last 3 Thursdays, Thursdays being the day my garden service usually comes to perform their duties, now unavailable due to the wetness. I arrive on my patio and find myself absolutely lost in thought under my umbrella as I stare at my beautiful 4 newly potted flowers. My boyfriend got me these "because he loves me" but it's a long story.

Lost in through I realised that I have no idea what these bright velvety petals are called and I was brainy enough to throw away the label when I planted them. Yes I officially have green fingers and have just potted my first little sproutlings for the garden, big step in my life, that being after successfully baking something in the oven that turned out edible. So what are these bright coloured flowers called? Baffled, as I have been obsessing over getting these little intriguing "pets" for 2 weeks and still not knowing what they called I call my boyfriend closer to assist me in my dilemma. I posed him with the question "honey what would you Google if you were looking for the name of these flowers?"

This was my question to him, of all questions. We concluded that the flowers were very peculiar and unlike others, a velvety texture, an assortment of small flowers closely packed together to form a brain like texture embroidered with luminous yellow, pink and orange. Okay I can see how Google was the best option here. It's not like we actually reside right next to Plant Land and it will take 5 minutes to get there, have a look what they are called and while we there get some insecticide and fertiliser – which was actually the reason for me contemplating the name of these little creatures in the first place.

Yes, but Google is 5 seconds away, and to my amazement when I googled the image "flower velvet brain" picture number 3 was non other than a correct representation of my little plants! Proof that you can find anything and everything online. I have still not managed to figure out what they are called though so looks like I will after all be making a trip next door, when the weather clears up of course.

I know when it rains it pours, but that doesn't mean you should forget to pause and notice the little things in life, the little things are what make the big ones worthwhile and are much too often overlooked. When the hard times have passed good things sprout from it. Embrace the rain and blossoms as one can not appreciate the light had you not seen the dark.
