Update...

Just a little update on the happenings... The doggy parlour expedition down here seems like a futile exercise, as per my previous post! With all the rain Bella needs another trip and it hasn't even been a week!!! But enough about Bella...

Just to keep you updated, I am still job hunting! There was a temp position where I managed a guest house in Franscchoek for about 2 weeks which did not even last that long, turns out the owner has anger management issues which was not for me, so I packed my bags and here I am at point A yet again. I think I am getting good at this interview thing now, been for so many, got allot of the jobs but I am slightly picky. Funds are running low now so will probably end up taking whatever comes up now!

So I moved into my gorgeous little flat yesterday! Its right next to the mountain and I am absolutely in love with the place, it's so ME! A little one bed on a wine and guava farm with so much character. Its like a mini complex with 4 units so I have people living next to and behind me which I like from a security point of view. Its sooo quite and I think being there all by myself would have been way scary! I love my new thrown together look there, I got a fridge (on loan) from a friend which is sooo old and slightly manky. I spent 45 minutes scrubbing it inside and out this morning, but it was funny enough very rewarding. Who would have thought. I have rose printed plates (on special) and salt and pepper pots that look like cows!

Seeing that funds are running low all I have in my little palace is a bed, a little stove with plates on top (the coolest thing ever that doubles as a heater) and camping chairs! Please see photo below of my humble home..

Have to say I am happy about having my own space, having been crashing with friends for 3 weeks and to be honest I think they have had enough of me, understandable!

I am happy about having some time on my hands to sort out my new place, wow the bargains one can find! I bought so much stuff at Pep Home its quite funny! Bella also loves her new den, she shares the farm with 3 others.. Dali (as in Salvador) who was meant to be a Jack Russel but has long hair, they absolutely adore each other which I am happy about because the Ridgeback Gina is way territorial and hates Bella. On our arrival Bella got the biggest fright of her life when she saw new neighbour no. 3 Bamboo the Great Dane. She has never seen a dog the size of a donkey and just bolted. Her running resulted in a chase which ended up with all 4 of them in the vineyard down the road and Bella with a nice bite on her bum (its small but there was BLOOD). Now I keep a close eye on her and make sure Gina doesn't intrude, well I try! Not easy keeping them away as they very comfy and make themselves at home in my flat. My biggest concern is Bamboo getting the need to lift great Great Dane leg and marking his territory forgetting that he is in my flat!

Seems like the most excitement in my past days have been because of the dogs ha ha. I do actually have a life! Well hearing this you would think that I don't. We stayd in and watched the (now famous) Bulls game flat on our backs on the couch! Ha ha we would have gone for a braai but the weather was horrid and who wants to get up and put on make up after such a lazy day!

On Sunday went to the most divine little Afrikaans restaurant that serves yummy traditional meals topped by an entertaining menu with words like "boeretroos, bok kos, and korrel konfeit" ( still don't really know what that means) ! This was followed by a lovely visit to the place of the most amazing wine - DIEMERSFONTEIN... Wow all I can say is njam. Good on them for only allowing guests to taste 6 wines otherwise I don't know how I would have made it home! Luckily we got take aways, you have to when the wine is so delicious!

Found the best factory shop in the world. They get all the surplus food from Woollies which they freeze and sell for next to nothing! Biggest bargain in the Cape. They also sell dented canned food for R5 a tin, WOW! Bought 2 bags full of stuff for under R200, best money ever spent.

Well that's all for now, I need to go as I don't think I can fit in another Hot Chocolate. Oh by the by, there is NO RECEPTION on the farm! Hence I am sitting at Spur sipping till my bum expands to use the Internet! The horror, but losing contact with society is a small price to pay for my new little palace of a flat with its breathtaking view! I am of to scrub some more cupboards and get myself settled!
